“Talking About Renewable Energy”

As you all know, we just recently created the PNOC Renewables Corporation
(PRC).  PRC will lead the country’s initiatives in renewable energy.  I
cannot but stress that today’s renewable energy technologies can be likened
to yesterday’s internet and e-commerce revolution.  So our foray into the
field of renewable energy couldn’t have come at a better time.

We have recently purchased the entire solar power equipment inventory of
Shell Solar Philippines Inc., making us the country’s leader in solar
energy.  In fact, we will soon be installing 40,000 solar home units
throughout the country.  Other projects such as hydropower, geothermal,
wind, and biofuel are already in the pipeline.

But let’s talk about a different kind of renewable energy-the human type.

We humans must forever be in a process of renewal.  This renewal is a
never-ending journey of learning, discovery, innovation, transformation,
reinvention, and improvement.

Never cease to learn.
Never cease to improve.
Never cease to adapt.
Fix it even if it isn’t broken.

Our foray into renewable energy can be much strengthened by a strong resolve
to constantly renew our energies.  Even after 36 fruitful years, let us
never cease to constantly renew ourselves.
