Coal
ZAMBOANGOA-SIBUGAY COAL PROJECT (COC - 41)
DESCRIPTION:
This covers PNOC EC?s operations in COC 41 located in Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay, with total in-situ coal reserves estimated at 25 million MT.
A joint venture project between PNOC EC and Taiwan Overseas Mining Co. Inc., (TOMC) covering two coal blocks under COC 41 known as the ILB Project has produced around 355.2 thousand MT since June 2002. PNOC EC also supervises small scale miners in the area to produce coal found in the shallow areas. To date, actual coal production is around 15.3 thousand MT since 2003.
Two coal projects, the Lalat and Lumbog, are being farmed out to prospective investors. The Lalat Project has an in situ-reserve of 7.5 million MT while the Lumbog Project has an in-situ reserve of 6 million MT.
STATUS:
Total coal production from the Integrated Little Baguio Projects and small-scale miners reached 55,296 metric tons from January-May, 2006.
