Taguig City – PNOC hosted Grade 10 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students and their teachers from the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) Ilocos Region Campus on April 27, 2023. The future scientists and engineers were briefed on the history of PNOC, its milestones and accomplishments, and its projects currently under development.
PNOC President Jesus Cristino P. Posadas gave the opening remarks, and greeted the educational tour group in their native Ilocano language, while members of the Business Research and Development Department (BRDD) and the Project Management Department (PMD), led by BRDD Manager Ma. Rowena C. Raymundo, facilitated the event. Both departments are under the supervision of the Senior Vice-President for Energy Investments, Atty. Ronald C. Chua.
The event sought to aid the students in formulating STEM-aligned research projects, with a focus on actual programs being undertaken by government institutions such as PNOC. Participants enjoyed a very lively interaction, as the briefing was interspersed with comprehension checks and prizes.
With the success of the event, PSHS and PNOC are looking into the possibility of an immersion program for the students in the coming internship season.
