The 9th session of the Everything Energy (TEE) Forum, held on April 18, 2024, delved into the crucial topic of advancing energy efficiency in government. Hosted by the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC), the TEE Forum serves as a platform for industry players to converge and discuss key initiatives shaping the energy landscape.
Atty. Patrick T. Aquino, Director of the Energy Utilization Management Bureau (EUMB) of the Department of Energy (DOE), shed light on Republic Act No. 11285, also known as the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) Act. He highlighted the comprehensive framework established by the DOE, including fifty-nine policy issuances, to facilitate the full implementation of the EEC Act.
A pivotal aspect of advancing energy efficiency is the training and certification of Energy Efficiency practitioners. These professionals, certified as Energy Managers, Energy Conservation Officers, and Energy Auditors, play a crucial role in implementing and monitoring the EEC Act, ensuring industry compliance and effectiveness.
In addition to national awareness campaigns, fiscal incentives are being offered to incentivize energy efficiency projects and strategic investments. These incentives aim to stimulate interest and promote the adoption of energy-efficient practices across sectors.
Mr. Charlie Fernando, President and CEO of CLIXLogic Inc., introduced the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) and its potential applications in energy conservation. IoT devices offer solutions characterized by their cost-effectiveness, low power consumption, and ease of installation, making them valuable tools in energy management.
According to Mr. Fernando, implementing a monitoring system is key to effectively managing energy consumption. Real-time data collection at 15-minute intervals enables organizations to analyze energy usage patterns and respond promptly to optimize efficiency.
Energy efficiency is not just a priority but a critical component of sustainable development. PNOC’s commitment to providing a platform for learning and collaboration through initiatives like the TEE Forum underscores its dedication to advancing energy efficiency and realizing its strategic goals.
