PNOC

LIMAY, Bataan—Reinforcing its commitment to workplace safety, the PNOC Park Management Department, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross–Bataan Chapter, equipped selected personnel with essential life-saving skills through a four-day Basic Life Support (BLS) training program held from April 21 to 24, 2025.

Aiming to strengthen the capability of its workforce during medical emergencies, the training course covered vital emergency response techniques, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the proper use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).  Participants included designated PNOC associates, security staff and representatives from contracted service providers within the PNOC Industrial Park.

With the Philippine Red Cross–Bataan Chapter as training facilitators, the participants were guided through eight key modules designed to build knowledge and reinforce practical competencies in handling emergency health situations in the workplace.

The training began with an introduction to the core principles of First Aid and Basic Life Support, highlighting the ethical and legal responsibilities of emergency responders. This was followed by an in-depth discussion on Emergency Action Principles, with a focus on effective scene assessment and patient evaluation.

Participants also received comprehensive instruction in administering CPR and operating AEDs for both adult and infant patients, as well as managing airway obstructions and performing rescue breathing.

Further modules covered the treatment of soft tissue injuries, careful handling of patients with potential head or spinal trauma, and responding to environmental emergencies such as heat-related illnesses. The training concluded with proper lifting and moving techniques that were tailored to different response conditions such as terrain, injury type, and team composition.

The Philippine Red Cross administered both written and hands-on assessments to gauge the participants’ proficiency in emergency response. Core competencies such as  CPR execution and proper bandaging techniques were demonstrated and evaluated during the practical sessions. Participants will receive certificates of completion upon the successful review and validation of their exam results.
