PNOC

The Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) brought warmth, support, and recognition to the women at the Taguig City Jail – Female Dormitory on June 5, 2024, through a special outreach program in celebration of Mother’s Day.

With the theme “IEC Sessions on Energy, Talk on Women’s Rights, and Outreach Program,” the PNOC Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System led the initiative for 100 women deprived of liberty (PDLs), each receiving a hygiene pack containing sanitary napkins, laundry soap, shampoo, body soap, face towels, toothpaste, and coffee—essentials aimed at meeting their daily needs and promoting personal well-being.

The event began with a holy mass officiated by Fr. Officer Rommel Macachor Kiamco of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, creating a solemn and meaningful start to the day. Jail Warden JCINSP Aubrey R. Gutierrez welcomed participants with her opening remarks, followed by engaging sessions on Energy 101 and Women’s Rights under Republic Act No. 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children (Anti-VAWC) Law—empowering participants with valuable knowledge and awareness.

One of the most touching moments was an intermission performance of “You Raise Me Up” by a PDL, which drew heartfelt applause from the audience. This was followed by closing remarks from PNOC-GFPS Member Mr. Fernando J. Castillon, who emphasized the importance of compassion, empowerment, and continuous support for women from all walks of life.

The program concluded with the distribution of hygiene packs, leaving them not only with essential supplies but also with a renewed sense of recognition, encouragement, and dignity.

Through this initiative, PNOC reaffirmed its commitment to gender-responsive programs that foster inclusivity, empowerment, and respect for women.
