PNOC

Reaffirming its commitment to advancing gender equality and inclusivity, the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) officially kicked off the 2025 National Women’s Month Celebration with an online in-house talk on women’s rights held on March 18, 2025.

The session was facilitated by Atty. Erose Marlo C. Laeno from the Office of the General Counsel, who delivered a compelling presentation on the evolution of human rights, emphasizing the universal truth that women’s rights are human rights. She highlighted key provisions of Republic Act 9710, or the Magna Carta of Women, which guarantees the protection and promotion of women’s rights across all sectors of society.

Atty. Laeno’s discussion not only deepened female employees’ understanding of their legal rights but also inspired male employees to serve as allies and advocates—equipping them to support, inform, and champion the rights of women and girls in their communities.

To further enrich the session, participants took part in breakout discussions inspired by selected scenes from the award-winning film Hidden Figures. The activity encouraged employees to reflect on the perseverance and achievements of women in historically male-dominated fields and to draw parallels to the ongoing pursuit of workplace equality.

The event was attended by PNOC employees from its main and offsite offices in Bataan and Batangas, reinforcing the company’s collective commitment to fostering a culture of awareness, respect, and inclusivity. Through initiatives like this, PNOC ensures that both men and women are engaged partners in building gender-responsive workplaces and communities.
