CALAMBA CITY, Laguna—PNOC has officially switched on a newly installed solar photovoltaic (PV) system at the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) CALABARZON, formerly known as National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region IV-A, Office on August 6, 2025.
Marking another milestone in the company’s Rooftop Solar for Government Buildings Project, this initiative helps government facilities harness renewable energy, reduce power costs, and lower carbon emissions. It also supports the Department of Energy’s directive for the 100% installation of solar PV systems in all government buildings nationwide.
PNOC Business Research and Development Department representatives Mr. Louie Aaron L. Razon and Engr. Mark Jay P. Tabajonda joined DEPDev Regional Director Carmel P. Matabang and her technical team during the Switch-On Ceremony.
The program opened with an operations and maintenance training led by PNOC’s project contractor. The session covered the fundamentals of the solar PV system, proper panel and inverter cleaning procedures, troubleshooting steps, and the designation of a focal person for emergencies. These measures aim to ensure that the system operates at peak efficiency and remains consistently reliable.

A ceremonial system activation followed, where PNOC representatives walked participants through the system’s components, demonstrated its operating procedures, and emphasized the advantages of solar energy in government operations.
To optimize performance, PNOC and DEPDev CALABARZON will be working on integrating the installation with a remote monitoring platform for real-time tracking of energy output and operational status.
With this latest installation, PNOC strengthens its push for renewable energy adoption in the public sector, empowering government offices to lead by example in the transition towards attaining the country’s clean energy goals.
