Taguig City — Joining the call to strengthen internal protection mechanisms in the workplace, the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) participated in the first Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI) Summit hosted by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) on August 13, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center Aura in Taguig City.
With the theme “Tindig Babaylan, Pang-aabuso’y Wakasan!”, the summit focused on transforming CODI into more responsive, effective, and functional mechanisms for addressing workplace harassment and gender-based violence (GBV).
In her opening remarks, PCW Chairperson Ermelita V. Valdeavilla highlighted the importance of having this event saying, “CODI is the face of justice closest to the victims. It is the first step of courage where the truth and evidence restore dignity.”
CODI serves as an institution’s primary mechanism for upholding the Magna Carta of Women, Anti-Sexual Harassment Act, Safe Spaces Act, and the Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service (RACCS). Through effective CODI mechanisms, institutions can ensure that their workplaces have clear, respectful, and legally sound processes for addressing complaints and protecting individuals from harassment and abuse.
PNOC GAD Focal Point System Technical Working Group (GFPS-TWG) Chairperson Ms. Maria Terrisa A. Tripulca and GAD Specialist Mr. Reymart M. Santos joined GADvocates from the public and private sector in discussions aimed at addressing operational challenges in CODI implementation and developing actionable commitments to strengthen workplace protection mechanisms across sectors.
The summit featured discussions on existing anti-harassment laws and policies, the current status and functionality of CODIs, and best practices in implementing workplace protection mechanisms. These discussions provided participants with a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by CODIs and practical approaches to making them more responsive and effective.
Keynote Speakers also shared their organizations’ best practices during the open forum, along with their perceived gaps in the current situation of CODI in the country, and key priorities for ensuring that CODI actively works. Complementing these discussions, the outputs during the workshop provided the data for the PCW to paint a clearer picture of the national CODI situation and also serve as foundational inputs for the CODI Summit Platform for Action, consolidating all agencies’ commitments to strengthen workplace protection mechanisms.
“PNOC, through its CODI and GFPS, remains committed to ensuring that gender-based violence has no place in our workplace or community. We strive to foster a gender-responsive and respectful culture where everyone is empowered to speak up and stand against GBV,” said PNOC GFPS-TWG Chairperson Tripulca.
PNOC’s participation in the inaugural CODI Summit reaffirms its commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and gender-responsive workplace. Through its CODI and GFPS, PNOC continues to strengthen its internal mechanisms and promote a collective stand against workplace abuse and gender-based violence—helping build a culture where every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.
