MARIVELES, Bataan — Demonstrating its steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC), together with its partners, planted 1,000 fruit-bearing and forest tree seedlings at the National Greening Program (NGP) site in Barangay Alion, Mariveles, Bataan, on July 24, 2026.
Led by the PNOC Park Management Department (PMD), the annual tree-planting activity brought together 169 volunteers from the PNOC Head Office, PNOC Energy Supply Base, park locators, contractors, and members of the host community. Working toward a common goal of environmental restoration, the volunteers planted 500 guyabano, 200 cacao, 100 duhat, 100 kasoy, and 100 narra seedlings, contributing to the long-term rehabilitation and greening of the designated reforestation site.
“Tree planting is more than a one-day activity—it is a long-term commitment to protecting and restoring our environment,” said Department Manager Carlito B. Pena. He emphasized that the responsibility does not end with planting the seedlings. Rather, it continues through regular monitoring, proper maintenance, and sustained care to ensure that the trees thrive and contribute to healthier ecosystems for future generations.
To reinforce this commitment, PNOC has established a sustained monitoring program under which designated personnel will conduct quarterly site visits to assess the condition of the seedlings and provide the necessary maintenance until they are fully established. This initiative will be carried out in close coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to help ensure the long-term success and sustainability of the reforestation effort.
The activity was further strengthened by the active participation of park locators, partner organizations, contractors, and community volunteers, including Philippine Resins Industries, Inc. (PRII), ESSI, AdCon/LBPRDC, Orica Philippines Inc., Natural Resources Development Corporation (NRDC), Team Philippines Energy Corporation (TPEC), NPC Alliance Corporation (NPCA), Petron, and volunteers from PNOC’s host community, Barangay Batangas II. Their collective participation underscored the importance of collaboration in advancing environmental conservation and sustainable development.
The annual tree-planting activity forms part of PNOC’s broader CSR program, reflecting the company’s enduring commitment to environmental stewardship and climate resilience. By investing in reforestation and fostering partnerships with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and local communities, PNOC continues to create lasting environmental impact while promoting responsible resource management and a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come.
