The Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) strengthened its advocacy for youth empowerment and gender equality by addressing one of the most pressing issues affecting Filipino youth—teenage pregnancy—through a Gender and Development (GAD) Outreach Program held on March 12, 2025, at Anselmo A. Sandoval Memorial National High School in Mabini, Batangas.

With the theme “Ingatan ang Kinabukasan, Maagang Pagbubuntis Iwasan”, the activity aimed to equip students with knowledge and practical guidance to help them make informed life choices. It emphasized the importance of responsible decision-making, self-protection, and awareness of legal safeguards, particularly for young women.

The program opened with an engaging lecture by Ms. Lourdes Paulita Aldovino from the Reproductive Health Unit of Mabini, Batangas, who tackled the physical, emotional, and social consequences of early pregnancy. She also highlighted the vital role of education in shaping brighter, more secure futures for the youth.

This was followed by Atty. Reynilda T. Cabahug-De Leon of PNOC, who discussed Republic Act 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act. Her talk provided students with essential knowledge about their rights, the various forms of abuse covered by the law, and the channels available for seeking protection and support.

To deepen learning, interactive activities were conducted after each session, allowing participants to share their insights, reflect on the lessons discussed, and actively engage with their peers.

The event concluded with the distribution of advocacy tokens—tote bags, water tumblers, stickers, and lunch packs—serving both as practical items and as lasting reminders of the day’s core messages: safeguard one’s future, stand against violence, and make empowered choices.

This outreach formed part of PNOC’s celebration of 2025 National Women’s Month, further reinforcing the company’s commitment to community engagement, gender equality, and nation-building—values that extend well beyond its core business operations.
