
TAGUIG CITY, Philippines — The Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) conducted a two-day Internal Auditors Quality Management System (QMS) Training for selected personnel from June 22 to 23, 2026, as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen employee competencies and expand its pool of qualified internal auditors.
Organized by the Personnel Services Division, the training commenced with opening remarks from PNOC Lead Auditor Mr. James E. Zaragoza, who emphasized the critical role of internal auditors in ensuring that organizational processes remain effective, compliant, and aligned with the company’s quality objectives.
“This initiative equips our workforce to serve as the strategic eyes and ears of the company in safeguarding our operational integrity. A robust QMS serves as the backbone of our institutional success and fosters a culture of quality that delivers consistent value to our stakeholders,” Mr. Zaragoza said.

The technical sessions were facilitated by Ms. Mary Jane Wata-Du, Senior Consultant and Lead Trainer of Precons Management Consultancy–Philippines. Participants were introduced to internal auditing principles, audit methodologies, risk-based thinking, and techniques for evaluating conformity in accordance with internationally recognized quality management standards.

To reinforce their learning, participants engaged in practical workshops covering audit planning, audit conduct, reporting, and the proper handling of audit findings, including opportunities for improvement and nonconformities.
Through this initiative, PNOC continues to strengthen its internal audit capability and foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. The training forms part of the company’s broader commitment to enhancing institutional systems and ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of its mandate.
