TAGUIG CITY, Philippines — The Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) is strengthening its enterprise-wide approach to risk management through the designation and orientation of Risk Champions from its various departments and divisions under the Enterprise Risk Management System (ERMS) Team Orientation and Workshop held on August 12, 2026, at the PNOC Networking Hall in Taguig City.
The activity provided the newly designated Risk Champions with a common understanding of PNOC’s ERMS framework and their role in supporting risk management within their respective units. As designated representatives of their areas, the Risk Champions will help identify, assess, monitor, and communicate risks that may affect organizational objectives and support timely and informed decision-making.

In her opening remarks, ERMS Lead and Strategy Management Office Department Manager Alma B. Taganas underscored the importance of making risk management a shared responsibility across the organization.
“Risks are inherent in our operations, and we must proactively identify and assess them, implement appropriate mitigation measures, and take timely action to minimize their potential impact. Our Risk Champions play a vital role in ensuring that risks within their respective divisions are properly identified, assessed, and monitored, thereby supporting the achievement of PNOC’s objectives,” Ms. Taganas said. She likewise emphasized the importance of equipping Risk Champions with a common framework and practical tools to strengthen risk awareness and promote a consistent and proactive approach to risk management across the organization.
The orientation provided an overview of the PNOC ERMS Manual, risk management processes, and the use of risk registries to support the identification and monitoring of risks. Through practical discussions and exercises, participants were given an opportunity to apply the ERMS framework to situations relevant to their respective areas and understand how risk information can be incorporated into planning and decision-making.
The ERMS Team Orientation and Workshop forms part of PNOC’s continuing efforts to strengthen risk governance and integrate risk considerations into organizational planning and decision-making.
