MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) participated in the Freedom of Information (FOI) Bootcamp for Newly Designated FOI Officers held on October 27–29, 2026, at the National Library of the Philippines in Ermita, Manila, as part of its continuing efforts to promote transparency and improve the handling of public information requests.

PNOC was represented by Ms. Sharina Mariz L. Walde, Officer-In-Charge of Corporate Relations Division and Ms. Christine Joyce G. Pelayo, Public Relations Officer II. Organized by the FOI Program Management Office (FOI-PMO), the three-day bootcamp aimed to equip newly designated FOI officers with the knowledge and practical skills needed to process information requests, understand FOI procedures, and effectively carry out their responsibilities.

The bootcamp brought together FOI officers from national government agencies, state universities and colleges, government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), and water districts. Through interactive discussions, hands-on workshops, workbook exercises, and group activities, participants gained practical knowledge of FOI procedures while exchanging experiences and best practices with representatives from other government institutions. The event also provided an opportunity for FOI Receiving Officers from different parts of the Philippines to connect, exchange experiences, and build professional networks, fostering stronger collaboration among FOI practitioners nationwide.
As part of the training, the PNOC representatives developed an FOI Action Plan outlining proposed improvements in records management, internal coordination, employee awareness, and the handling of information requests. The plan provides a reference for potential initiatives aimed at enhancing PNOC’s FOI services and facilitating public access to government information.
