TAGUIG CITY, Metro Manila—Twenty-one PNOC associates completed a three-day Basic Life Support (BLS)-Lay Rescuer Training as part of the company’s initiative to build internal emergency response capabilities. Held on June 9-11, 2025, the training was organized in coordination with the Taguig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
The training is part of the company’s initiative to strengthen its Emergency Quick Response Team (ERT), composed of associates from various departments who are trained to act as first responders during medical emergencies. These associates play a vital role in managing emergency situations until professional medical services arrive.
The program featured hands-on sessions covering core emergency response procedures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults and infants, management of foreign body airway obstruction, and hands-only CPR. The associates also participated in skills demonstrations and return demonstrations to enhance their practical competence and confidence.

Modules on Standard First Aid were also included, particularly on response strategies for both medical and trauma-related incidents. Topics covered the management of conditions such as fever, breathing difficulties, allergic reactions, and diabetic episodes, as well as injuries like fractures, burns, wounds, and animal bites. Participants were also trained in proper techniques for bandaging, splinting, and transferring patients. The program concluded with a practical assessment to evaluate participants’ readiness.
The training was facilitated by a team from Taguig CDRRMO, led by Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Head Training Officer Arnazier Y. Garcia, with Emergency Medical Responders Michael O. Apolonio and Edgardo Dela Cruz, and Registered Nurse Mark Jeysson O. Silao. The facilitators ensured that the training adhered to national safety standards and emphasized the practical and scenario-based application of skills.
All participating associates received Certificates of Participation for completing the BLS and Standard First Aid Training. With their newly acquired skills, they now serve as key resources, providing immediate assistance and responding effectively to emergencies within the company.
