TAGUIG CITY, Metro Manila—In observance of Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2025, PNOC participated in the Cybersecurity Seminar for the Energy Sector on October 1-2, 2025.

The seminar gathered energy sector implementers to strengthen collaboration and collective action in addressing emerging cybersecurity challenges. Aligned with Department Circular No. DC2025-01-0001, or the “Institutionalizing the Energy Sector Cybersecurity and Cyber Resilience Framework,” the sessions covered pressing topics, including discussions on the evolving threat landscape, ransomware, layered security, and legal boundaries in cyberspace.

Organized by the Department of Energy’s Task Force on Energy Resilience, in cooperation with the Energy Sector Computer Emergency Response Team and the Technical Working Group on the Identification of Critical Information Infrastructure, the activity served as the kickoff of the month-long Cybersecurity Awareness celebration.

Participants received updates on national cybersecurity strategies, learned practical approaches to cyber hygiene, and engaged in in-depth discussions on critical issues affecting the energy sector. The two-day activity also featured an orientation by the Department of Information and Communications Technology on the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure, which plays a vital role in promoting trust and security in digital transactions.

Emphasizing the shared responsibility of government, industry, and the community in building a resilient and secure digital future, the seminar echoed the spirit of the Cybersecurity Bayanihan campaign, “Isang komunidad. Isang bansa. Isang layunin: Gusto natin, secured ka!”

Ms. Sarina B. Vitales and Mr. Lou Albert D. Laurel of PNOC’s Management Information Systems Division represented the company in the seminar.

This training supports the capacity-building objectives of DC2025-01-0001 and the National Cybersecurity Plan 2023-2028, ensuring that designated government and private sector personnel complete the prescribed fundamental cybersecurity programs within six months of their designation.
