TAGUIG CITY, Metro Manila — With a shared goal of exploring the potential development of a Self-Generating Industrial Park (SGIP) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) logistics facilities, the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) and the Provincial Government of Tawi-Tawi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 30 January 2026.
Representing PNOC President and CEO Ms. Ma. Cristina Sheila C. Cabaraban, Director Joel R. Caminade welcomed Tawi-Tawi Governor Yshmael Ismail Sali at the PNOC Head Office in Taguig City, where the Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed.
Under the MOU, the Provincial Government of Tawi-Tawi will continue to support PNOC’s efforts in assessing prospective energy infrastructure projects that could enhance regional energy supply and stimulate economic activity in the Southern Philippines.
Both parties will explore the viability of developing prospective sites/arrangements in Tawi-Tawi into an SGIP and/or related energy initiatives, including preliminary LNG hub/logistics concepts.
The partnership between PNOC and the Provincial Government of Tawi-Tawi began in 2024, marked by joint scoping visits, workshops, and the unveiling of the SGIP project marker at the proposed site in February 2025.
