PASAY CITY, Philippines — The Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) advanced its regional energy cooperation agenda through its participation in the 26th ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF-26), held October 6–8, 2026, at the Philippine International Convention Center. The forum brought together government leaders, investors, and industry stakeholders to explore partnerships and investments toward a more secure, resilient, and sustainable energy future.

The forum, held alongside the 44th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM), brought together government leaders, investors, and industry stakeholders to explore investments and partnerships that support a more secure, resilient, just, and inclusive energy transition in Southeast Asia. It was organized by the Department of Energy (DOE), in collaboration with the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and Leverage International, under the theme “Clean Energy Unlocked: A Stronger ASEAN.”

PNOC President and CEO Franz Josef George E. Alvarez joined DOE Secretary Sharon S. Garin and Undersecretary Alessandro O. Sales in high-level engagements with investors, financial institutions, and industry leaders to explore strategic collaboration opportunities. PNOC Senior Vice President for Energy Business Atty. Graciela M. Barleta and her team also participated in AEBF activities, bilateral engagements, and discussions under the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC), supporting the DOE’s engagement with regional energy counterparts.

Central to PNOC’s contribution to national energy resilience is the development of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) project at the PNOC Industrial Park in Mariveles, Bataan. The initiative aims to establish the country’s fuel stockpiling capacity, and support the government’s broader energy security objectives.

“PNOC remains committed to supporting the DOE’s engagement with ASEAN partners and contributing, within its mandate, to initiatives that strengthen the Philippines’ energy security and sustainability,” PNOC PCEO Alvarez said.

The forum concluded with the launch of the 9th ASEAN Energy Outlook, providing evidence-based insights for regional energy planning, and the symbolic handover of the ASEAN Chairship from the Philippines to Singapore for 2027.

Through the development of strategic energy infrastructure and active regional engagement, PNOC continues to support the Philippines’ long-term energy priorities while advancing cooperation toward a more resilient ASEAN energy landscape.
