BGC, Taguig — Despite inclement weather, the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) successfully held its Supplier Orientation and Fair on the morning of September 2, 2024, at the PNOC Networking Hall.
The event brought together a diverse group of suppliers offering office supplies, printing services, safety and health equipment, CCTV systems, property tracking solutions, and goods and services. Suppliers showcased their products and services through interactive booths, allowing participants to engage directly with them. PNOC’s subsidiary, PNOC Exploration Corporation (PNOC EC), also participated in the event.
In his welcome remarks, PNOC President and CEO Oliver B. Butalid emphasized the company’s commitment to forging relationships with suppliers that go beyond mere transactions. He stated that “Suppliers are our partners,” highlighting the crucial role of supplier quality in delivering high-caliber products and services. He noted that many suppliers share PNOC’s core values of excellence, integrity, and professionalism.
He also explained that winning bidders are not necessarily those offering the lowest prices but those who provide the best quality. As PNOC gears up for future projects, he reiterated the company’s intent to partner with the most effective suppliers in the market and invited them to be part of the PNOC community in a more meaningful way.
The event also featured a presentation by the PNOC Procurement Division, detailing the latest procurement processes and practices, with a focus on the different modes of procurement, including public bidding and small-value procurement. This was followed by a talk from Atty. Alberto C. Agra, a distinguished law professor and consultant to the PNOC Board, has previously held various high-ranking government positions, including Acting Secretary of Justice, Acting Solicitor General, Government Corporate Counsel, and Chairman of the Philippine Reclamation Authority. His presentation provided a comprehensive overview of updates introduced by the New Government Procurement Act (RA 12009), offering suppliers detailed insights into how the new law will refine PNOC’s procurement procedures and create new opportunities.
One of the key highlights of the orientation and fair was the launch of the Viber community. PNOC’s Procurement Division introduced the PNOC PROCommunity, a dedicated Viber platform designed to streamline communication with suppliers. This community will provide real-time updates on bid opportunities, project statuses, and important announcements. It ensures that both current and future suppliers stay informed about crucial procurement matters and upcoming events, including the next Supplier Orientation and Fair.
PNOC expresses its gratitude to the organizers, suppliers, and participants for making the event a success. Building on this achievement, PNOC looks forward to hosting an even more expansive orientation by the end of the year. To join the official PNOC PROCommunity Viber Community Group, scan the QR code:
